Looking Back

Looking Back was a personal project that I undertook in order to improve my After Effects knowledge. I wanted to take the audience into the scene of someone on a space station, staring back at what has been left on Earth. I started by using VideoCoPilot planet plugin to create the initial Earth model. After the textures had been applied I created an over lay window with screens and flashing lights. I wanted the screens to reflect a 2001 Space Odyssey / Interstellar vibe and that is why I used the Interstellar Sound Track to accompany this piece. There is a subtle rotation of the planet and a pan towards the window, with the vignette slowly closing in, to create a sense of emotion Looking Back.
